Arkadelphia July 4th Island Fest at DeGray Lake Resort State Park: You can enjoy traditional Independence Day games and activities, including a watermelon eating contest, kayak race, basketball shooting, water balloon games, lawn bowling, crafts, demonstrations and more. (KTHV)Friday night football heroes are forged in the summer heat. In recent years, protecting young football players from that heat has been the top safety concern. But now, there’s a new worry about concussions. And that’s why coaches from across the state gathered on Friday in Conway. Even the NFL is threatened by concussions and head injuries. At that level, it’s about liability and the quality of life after the game. For Arkansas high school football coaches, it’s about convincing parents that the game is safe and kids that they can have fun on the field. (KTHV) - Local attorneys are going to offer free legal assistance to those in cancer treatment or have completed treatment in April. On April 6, lawyers will be at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) giving free advise on important personal documents. Those include preparing wills, powers of attorney and living wills. This will all be done in the Patient Support Pavillion on the first floor of the UAMS Cancer Institute.
